If you’ve been a listener for a while, you know that Female Genital Mutilation is something I loath, and try to expose at every opportunity. It’s one of my arguments specifically against Islam, which seems to have taken on the practice with gusto. Those unfamiliar with FGM have no clue that it is rooted in the male fear of female desire. It’s why Islam, so terrified by the opposite sex that they cage them (read Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s book “The Caged Virgin” if you need context), embracess this disgusting and inhuman practice.

In the Republic of Gambia, where 95.7% of the population is muslim, a debate is currently being held in their Supreme court over the legality of mutilating young girls for religious reasons. On the side of wrong is what you’ve come to expect: powerful men who want even more control over others. Their arguments are enough to turn your stomach:

…one witness, a prominent Muslim leader, attempted to justify the violence against women and girls, saying that “female circumcision” is part of Islam and isn’t harmful. When asked about two babies who died from the procedure, he replied: “We are Muslims and if someone dies, it’s God’s will.” He went on to say that the practice’s benefit is reducing women’s sexual desire, “which could be a problem for men.”

Don’t you love how this is still framed as a “male” problem? “Sorry we cut off your clitoris with a seraded blade and sowed up your vagina, all without anesthesia. Hey, how come you’re not sleeping with your much older husband?”

Essentially these imams want to argue that banning this practice is unconstitutional, because their “religious freedom” is being impinged. Yep, you heard that correctly. Their freedom to ruin the lives of million of young women (estimated globally to be 240 million of them, with 4 million added each year to that list) is paramount. Why? Because one day long ago, an illiterate man claimed that the voices he heard in his head were from a divine entity, and ever since then people have not been able to stop hurting each other over his revelations.

I wish only that one of these ignorant, narcissit pieces of shit humans would experience the pain, humiliation, and life destroying ritual like the ones they force on innocent little girls. Perhaps a little trauma might clue them to the fact that all of this repugnant crap is the product of a deep seeded hatred of sex, and more specifically, female agency.

For those of you listening who are men, are you as tired as I am of being on a “team” that can’t stop hurting the other sex? Will there ever be more of us disgusted by the treatment of women than not? For the sake of boys like my nephews, I certainly hope that day will come.
